  • Globe partners with local leaders to improve connectivity, expand broadband access, and support digital progress in Aklan and Antique.

Globe is strengthening its mobile and fiber connectivity in Aklan and Antique as part of efforts to improve digital access, network reliability, and resiliency in Western Visayas.

The telco shared its connectivity plans during a multi-sectoral dialogue with Senator Loren Legarda and local government leaders, where discussions focused on improving network infrastructure, expanding broadband access, and supporting long-term development needs in the two provinces.

Under its 2026 roadmap, Globe said it is rolling out network enhancements to improve mobile coverage, increase data capacity, and deliver better digital services for residents, businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and government offices.

In Aklan, Globe operates more than 100 sites covering all 17 municipalities and reaching 72 percent of the province’s population. Malay, home to Boracay Island, already has access to 5G connectivity, while Fiber-to-the-Home services are available in 10 municipalities.

In Antique, Globe operates more than 80 sites covering all 18 municipalities and reaching 74 percent of residents. San Jose already has 5G connectivity, while Fiber-to-the-Home services are available in 12 municipalities.

Globe said it is also expanding Fiber-to-the-Home services to provide faster and more reliable internet access to more households, supporting online learning, remote work, digital commerce, public services, and everyday communication.

During the dialogue, Legarda emphasized the importance of reliable electricity and internet connectivity in inclusive local development.

She also cited earlier discussions with the Aklan Information and Communications Technology Council, National Electrification Administration, Department of Energy, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, and electric cooperatives in Aklan and Antique to address service interruptions and advance power infrastructure projects.

Legarda also noted commitments from local governments and the Department of Information and Communications Technology to help create a more enabling environment for telecommunications investments and expand internet access in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

To strengthen network resiliency, Globe also highlighted its collaboration with Starlink, which is expected to provide additional connectivity support in areas where traditional infrastructure may be affected by outages or natural disasters.

“Connectivity is a powerful enabler of economic growth, social inclusion, and community resilience. By strengthening our network, expanding broadband access, and investing in solutions that keep people connected during critical situations, we are helping build stronger communities and opening more opportunities for every Filipino,” said Darius Jose Delgado, Chief Commercial Officer of Globe.

“We are grateful for the support of Senator Loren Legarda and our local government partners as we work together toward a more digitally empowered future for Aklan and Antique,” he added.

Globe said the initiatives form part of its broader goal of expanding digital access and helping communities become more connected, resilient, and future-ready.
