Globe expands barangay broadband centers across Visayas to bring fiber services closer to communities
Globe AT HOME is expanding its community-based broadband initiative across the Visayas, opening new barangay broadband centers aimed at making fiber internet applications and support services more accessible to residents.
The company said the new centers will serve as local access points where residents can inquire about Globe Fiber plans, check service availability, receive assistance with applications, and get support throughout the subscription process. Dedicated broadband representatives will also be assigned to assist walk-in customers and engage nearby households.
The expansion comes as internet connectivity continues to play a growing role in education, work, business, and access to digital services. According to DataReportal, the Philippines had 97.5 million internet users as of January 2025, equivalent to 83.8 percent of the population.
“Reliable connectivity has become essential for education, work, business, and everyday life. By bringing broadband services closer to communities, we are making it easier for more families to access the opportunities that come with a strong internet connection,” said Jimbo Cordero.
Globe said the barangay-based centers are designed to help address challenges faced by households that may be located far from traditional service locations or need assistance in understanding available broadband options.
The company noted that access to fiber connectivity can support students participating in online learning, families conducting digital transactions, and small businesses looking to strengthen their online presence. Home internet services also enable activities such as video streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, smart home applications, and the use of AI-powered tools.
The latest rollout will cover communities in the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Antique, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, and Cebu this June.
Globe said it has already established similar community-based broadband access points in several Visayas provinces, including Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros Oriental, Samar, Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Aklan, Capiz, and Antique.
Residents in participating barangays may visit their nearest broadband center to check coverage availability, learn about Globe Fiber plans, and apply for home internet services.
