Garmin Pay is now available in the Philippines, giving users of supported Garmin smartwatches a new way to pay for everyday purchases and bills without taking out their phone, wallet, or physical card.

Based on Garmin’s participating banks page for the Philippines, Garmin Pay currently supports GoTyme Bank Visa debit cards in the country.

Through Garmin Pay, users can add a supported card to the Garmin Connect app and tap their compatible Garmin smartwatch at merchants that accept Visa contactless payments.

The feature allows users to pay for daily essentials, including food, groceries, convenience store items, retail purchases, and other bills accepted through Visa contactless terminals.

For users who are commuting, working out, traveling, or simply moving around, Garmin Pay offers a more convenient way to complete transactions directly from the wrist.

To set up Garmin Pay, users need to download and open the Garmin Connect app on their smartphone. They must make sure their Garmin smartwatch is already connected to the app, then select their compatible Garmin device from the list.

After selecting the device, users should go to the Garmin Pay or Wallet section. From there, they can tap the “+” sign to add their supported card, enter the required card details, and follow the verification process.

Once the setup is complete, users can start using Garmin Pay by tapping their smartwatch on a contactless payment terminal.

Garmin Pay can be used at participating restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, convenience stores, retail shops, and other merchants with Visa contactless payment terminals. It may also be used abroad at international merchants that accept Visa contactless payments.

For security, Garmin Pay uses tokenized payment information instead of sharing the user’s actual card number with merchants. It also requires a watch passcode for authentication, and the passcode must be entered again if the watch is removed from the user’s wrist.

Users need the Garmin Connect app and a compatible Garmin smartwatch or fitness device to use the service. Availability may vary depending on the Garmin device model and card support.

Once activated, Garmin Pay can be used even without an internet connection or the user’s phone nearby, making it another cashless payment option for Filipino users who want to pay straight from their smartwatch.
