Xiaomi unveils one of the slimmest magnetic power banks in the market today

Xiaomi is pushing portable charging into a slimmer form factor with the launch of the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W, a 5,000mAh wireless power bank designed for users who want extra battery life without carrying a bulky charger.

The device measures just 6mm thin and weighs 98 grams, making it one of the thinnest magnetic power banks currently listed by a major smartphone brand. Xiaomi describes the device as “ultra-thin” and “ultra-light,” with a slim metal body built for everyday portability.

For comparison, Apple’s iPhone Air MagSafe Battery measures just 7.79mm thick, showing how brands are now pushing magnetic power banks toward slimmer, more phone-friendly designs.

Despite its thin profile, Xiaomi’s power bank carries a 5,000mAh typical battery capacity and uses a high-energy-density silicon-carbon battery. It also has a rated battery energy of 18.58Wh, which places it below the 100Wh limit commonly allowed for power banks on airplanes.

The power bank supports up to 15W magnetic wireless charging, although Xiaomi said the full 15W wireless output is supported on the Xiaomi 17 Series. For iPhone models, magnetic wireless charging is limited to up to 7.5W.

For users who need faster charging, the device also supports USB-C wired output of up to 22.5W. It can charge two devices at the same time through USB-C and wireless charging, while also allowing pass-through use when the power bank itself is being recharged.

Xiaomi also equipped the device with several safety features, including temperature control, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, and foreign object detection.

In terms of compatibility, Xiaomi listed support for several Xiaomi, Apple, Samsung, and Google Pixel models. The company, however, noted that magnetic phone cases may be needed and that thick or non-magnetic cases may affect connectivity.

While Xiaomi has not officially called it the slimmest power bank in the market, its 6mm profile gives the UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W a clear design angle in the growing category of magnetic, phone-friendly chargers.
