Lenovo expands Formula 1 partnership into sim racing championship

Lenovo is expanding its partnership with Formula One by powering the 2026 Formula 1 Sim Racing World Championship through its gaming-focused Lenovo Legion hardware lineup.

Under the expanded collaboration, Lenovo Legion has been named the Official Technology Provider for the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship, supplying professional sim racers with competition-grade gaming desktops and monitors throughout the season.

The championship will use the Lenovo Legion Tower 5i alongside the Lenovo Legion Pro 32UD-10, which Lenovo said were designed to handle the speed, responsiveness, and graphical demands required in professional sim racing competitions.

The Legion Tower 5i is built to support high-performance gaming workloads, while the Legion Pro 32UD-10 features a 4K OLED display intended to deliver sharper visuals, deeper contrast, and more immersive race simulation environments.

The move further deepens Lenovo’s involvement in Formula 1 operations, extending beyond race infrastructure and broadcast technology into esports and virtual motorsport competitions.

Lenovo technology currently supports Formula 1’s Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill, United Kingdom, which serves as a major hub for the sport’s broadcast and race operations. The facility also hosted sim racing events earlier this season following the championship launch at DreamHack Birmingham last March.

Emily Prazer said the expanded partnership reflects Formula 1’s continued push to strengthen both virtual and real-world racing experiences through technology.

“Expanding Formula 1’s collaboration with Lenovo to power the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship marks an exciting step forward in our partnership,” Prazer said.

She added that Lenovo’s gaming hardware helped set a “clear benchmark” during the championship launch event in Birmingham.

Meanwhile, Volker Düring said the partnership also serves as a testing ground for Lenovo’s gaming technologies.

“Powering the 2026 Formula 1 Sim Racing World Championship allows us to put Lenovo Legion technology to the ultimate test in a truly competitive and high-performance environment,” Düring said.

He added that insights gathered from professional esports competition help improve future gaming products, similar to how Formula 1 contributes to automotive innovation.

All 12 rounds of the championship are scheduled to be broadcast live through Formula 1’s digital platforms, with Lenovo technology supporting race operations and player performance throughout the season.
