Lenovo names Sumir Bhatia as first Asia Pacific chief commercial officer

Lenovo has appointed Sumir Bhatia as its first Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for the Asia Pacific region, a move aimed at strengthening commercial alignment and accelerating growth across one of its most dynamic markets.

Bhatia will lead a newly formed commercial organization that brings together enterprise sales, solution sales, channel, and alliances teams. The role is expected to streamline how the company delivers its offerings across markets, particularly as demand for integrated and AI-driven solutions continues to rise.

A longtime Lenovo executive, Bhatia previously led the company’s Infrastructure Solutions Group in Asia Pacific, where he oversaw a decade of sustained growth in its infrastructure business. In his new role, he will continue to report to Amar Babu, Lenovo Asia Pacific president.

Lenovo said the restructuring comes as the region presents a mix of rapid digital adoption and varying levels of technological maturity, creating opportunities for more flexible, end-to-end solutions tailored to enterprise needs. The new commercial structure is designed to better align Lenovo’s full-stack AI capabilities across business units and markets, supporting the delivery of Hybrid AI solutions to commercial customers.

The leadership change also comes ahead of the planned retirement of Ivan Cheung, Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo’s PCs and Smart Devices (PCSD) business and Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific, in June 2026.

Benjamin Yeh, who succeeded Cheung as Vice President and General Manager of PCSD in March, will continue leading the division as Lenovo positions its device business for the next phase of regional growth.

Lenovo’s Asia Pacific operations cover key markets including Australia, India, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, where enterprises are increasingly investing in digital transformation and AI-enabled infrastructure.
