HUAWEI showcases MatePad 11.5 S 2026 as all-in-one learning device in University of Asia, the Pacific – School of Economics

HUAWEI Philippines is positioning its latest tablet, the MatePad 11.5 S 2026, as a multi-functional device for higher education, following a collaboration with the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) School of Economics.

The initiative highlights how a single device can support academic workflows across disciplines, from economics and data science to business and the humanities, as universities adapt to more complex and hybrid learning environments.

At the center of the device’s positioning is a 4-in-1 setup that combines tablet portability with laptop-like functionality. Paired with accessories such as a smart keyboard, stylus, and mouse, the MatePad transitions between different modes including laptop, split-screen, and studio configurations, allowing users to switch between writing, presenting, and annotating tasks.

Faculty members involved in the demonstration said the flexibility supports both teaching and classroom mobility. The detachable setup allows educators to move around while annotating materials in real time, instead of being confined to a fixed workstation.

For students, the device is designed to handle typical academic requirements such as document editing, spreadsheets, and presentations through WPS Office 3.0, which supports more than 40 file formats and includes tools like pivot tables and LaTeX equation input.

The tablet also integrates note-taking and creative tools, including AI-assisted handwriting refinement and equation recognition, aimed at helping students organize notes and visualize complex concepts.

On the hardware side, the MatePad 11.5 S 2026 features an 11.5-inch 2.8K display with anti-glare technology designed to reduce eye strain during extended reading and writing sessions. The screen is paired with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of brightness for visibility in different lighting conditions.

The device is also built for portability, weighing 515 grams with a 6.1 mm profile, and is equipped with an 8,800 mAh battery that supports extended use throughout a full day of classes and academic work.

HUAWEI said the partnership with UA&P forms part of a broader effort to work with academic institutions in integrating digital tools into teaching and learning environments. As part of the collaboration, students are being offered discounted pricing bundles that include accessories such as the keyboard and stylus.

The move reflects a wider trend among device makers to position tablets as primary productivity tools in education, particularly as universities continue to blend in-person and digital learning formats.
