DITO bags Asian Telecom Awards 2026 honors for AI, cybersecurity initiatives

DITO Telecommunity has secured two major wins at the Asian Telecom Awards 2026, highlighting its push to integrate artificial intelligence and cybersecurity into its core services.
The telco was recognized with AI Initiative of the Year – Philippines for its KAi platform, and Cybersecurity Initiative of the Year – Philippines for its Secured Tayo DITO program, underscoring its dual focus on service efficiency and subscriber protection.
KAi, DITO’s in-house virtual assistant launched in July 2025, is designed to streamline customer support across platforms including the DITO App, eShop, and Messenger. The tool enables users to handle transactions such as balance inquiries and account requests without waiting for live agents. According to the company, KAi now resolves up to 97 to 98 percent of customer inquiries, significantly reducing response times and improving overall user experience.
On the cybersecurity front, Secured Tayo DITO was cited for its nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening digital awareness. Since its rollout in 2022, the initiative has focused on educating users about phishing, fraud, and responsible online behavior through in-app alerts and official communication channels. DITO said the program has contributed to improved user awareness and a decline in scam-related incidents among its subscribers.
“At a time when digital threats are becoming more complex, trust and reliability matter more than ever,” said Adel Tamano. “These recognitions affirm that our investments in both technology and education are making a real difference in how Filipinos stay connected and protected.”
The recognition comes as DITO continues to position itself as a key player in the country’s digital transformation, leveraging emerging technologies to improve both network services and user safety.
“These wins show how we are approaching innovation differently. We are focused on real impact for our subscribers,” said Eric Alberto. “Whether it’s simplifying everyday interactions or strengthening digital trust, we are building a network that works better for every Filipino.”
The awards signal growing industry recognition of DITO’s efforts to combine AI-driven efficiency with cybersecurity awareness, as competition among telecom providers increasingly shifts toward delivering not just connectivity, but safer and more reliable digital experiences.
