The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) said it continues to operate using 100% renewable energy sourced from geothermal power, reinforcing efforts to maintain uninterrupted terminal operations while advancing sustainable transport solutions.
The integrated transport hub said its power supply is sourced from geothermal energy provided by First Gen Corporation, allowing the facility to remain operational amid evolving national energy conditions. While there are no current directives for widespread power interruptions, PITX said it has implemented contingency measures, including backup systems, coordination with transport partners, and enhanced passenger assistance.
“Our operations are anchored on stability and sustainability. By utilizing geothermal energy, PITX can maintain continuous service while contributing to a cleaner and more resilient energy future,” said PITX Chief Operating Officer Mohit Malhi.
As the country’s first landport, PITX plays a key role in managing commuter flow across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. The terminal said the use of geothermal power, considered a stable and indigenous renewable source, helps strengthen operational resilience, particularly during periods of global fuel supply uncertainty.
Alongside its energy transition, PITX is also expanding its push toward low-carbon mobility through Xpress EV, an electric-powered transport option operating within the terminal. The service is positioned as an alternative to traditional fuel-based transport, aimed at reducing emissions while improving commuter efficiency.
“Integrating renewable energy with electric mobility allows us to future-proof the commuter experience. At PITX, sustainability and service reliability go hand in hand,” Malhi added.
PITX said it will continue working with government agencies and transport stakeholders to ensure reliable service delivery while supporting broader sustainability goals in the public transport sector.
