LG extends OLED TV leadership to 13 years, pushes new display upgrades for 2026
- LG
LG Electronics has maintained its lead in the global OLED TV market for 13 consecutive years, supported by steady shipment growth and continued investments in display technology.
Citing data from Omdia, LG said it accounted for 49.7 percent of global OLED TV shipments in 2025, equivalent to about 3.22 million units. Total OLED TV shipments worldwide reached 6.47 million units during the same period, up 6.6 percent year on year, reflecting sustained demand for premium display formats.
Europe remained a key market for OLED adoption, with shipments surpassing 3 million units for the first time. LG held roughly 50.5 percent of the region’s OLED TV segment, shipping around 1.59 million units. The company also reported a 50.1 percent market share in North America and 62.3 percent in the Asia-Oceania region.
The figures point to OLED’s continued positioning within the premium TV segment, where demand is largely driven by picture quality, form factor, and performance across different lighting conditions.
LG said its 2026 OLED evo lineup builds on this trajectory, introducing upgrades aimed at improving brightness and color accuracy, particularly in well-lit environments. Among these is its Hyper Radiant Color technology, which the company claims delivers significantly brighter images compared to conventional OLED panels.
The new models are powered by the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3, designed to enhance image processing through a dual-engine system that handles noise reduction and texture preservation simultaneously. The approach aims to improve clarity without introducing oversharpening artifacts.
LG also reported achieving a “Reflection Free Premium” certification from Intertek, indicating improvements in glare handling—an area where OLED panels have historically faced challenges in bright rooms.
On the design side, the company introduced an updated Wallpaper OLED evo model, featuring an ultra-thin profile enabled by internal component redesign. The model recently received recognition at the iF Design Award, highlighting the continued emphasis on form factor alongside display performance.
LG said its current direction focuses on balancing visual performance, brightness improvements, and industrial design as OLED technology continues to evolve within the premium television segment.
