HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro, WATCH GT Runner 2 set for PH debut in April
- Huawei
Huawei is bringing two of its latest flagship devices to the Philippines this April: the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro and the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2, following their global unveiling at the “Now is Your Run” launch event in Madrid.
The return of the Mate series marks a significant moment for the brand’s premium smartphone lineup. HUAWEI positions the Mate 80 Pro as a continuation of its flagship legacy, built around AI-driven imaging, durability, and performance enhancements.
At the core of the Mate 80 Pro is an AI-powered True-to-Color Camera system designed to maintain lifelike color accuracy across mixed lighting environments and complex color temperatures. The device features HUAWEI’s signature Dual Space Ring camera design and is reinforced with second-generation Kunlun Glass, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Thermal management is handled by what HUAWEI describes as an industry-first SuperCool Dual Phase Change Heat Dissipation system, aimed at sustaining peak performance under demanding workloads without thermal throttling.
Alongside the flagship phone, HUAWEI is also reintroducing its performance-focused wearable with the WATCH GT Runner 2. The smartwatch builds on five years of development in the brand’s running watch category and introduces a new 3D floating antenna architecture engineered to improve positioning accuracy.
The device incorporates an intelligent positioning algorithm that continues tracking trajectory and distance even during temporary signal interruptions. A new intelligent marathon mode offers race management tools designed to guide runners through training and competition, positioning the watch as both a performance tracker and virtual coach.
Two-time Olympic athlete and WATCH GT Runner global ambassador Eliud Kipchoge shared during the launch that he contributed feedback to refine the smartwatch experience not only for elite athletes but also for everyday runners.
The Mate 80 Pro marks the Mate series’ return after a two-year gap, while the WATCH GT Runner line makes its comeback after its last release in 2021. Both devices are scheduled to launch locally in April, with pricing and availability details expected to be announced closer to release.
With the Mate 80 Pro and WATCH GT Runner 2, HUAWEI is reinforcing its strategy of combining AI-powered smartphone innovation with performance-driven wearables for the Philippine market.
