Scam Vault PH logs 233 scam reports, Gogolook urges public to join fight

Gogolook Philippines, the company behind the caller ID and scam protection app Whoscall, reported that 233 online scams were logged through its community-based platform, Scam Vault PH.

According to Mel Migriño, Country Head and General Manager of Gogolook Philippines, the data was submitted by a growing network of over 1,700 members, although not all are active contributors.

“This shows how effective community involvement can be in exposing scams,” Migriño said. “Even if only a fraction of the members report regularly, the insights they provide are already helping protect more Filipinos.”

Migrino pointed out that social media scams made up the majority of the reports (119), followed by SMS or messaging scams (78) and malicious URLs (36).

“Social media remains the most exploited platform by scammers. They use fake profiles, bogus job offers, and phishing schemes to bait unsuspecting users,” she explained. “It’s a reflection of how digital spaces we use every day have become hunting grounds for fraud.”

She added that the scam data from Scam Vault PH will be turned over to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and also integrated into Whoscall Philippines’ scam database.

“We want this data to make an impact beyond just monitoring. By sharing it with law enforcement and the Whoscall ecosystem, we’re helping improve scam detection, policy response, and public awareness,” Migriño said.

She stressed that Scam Vault PH is not just a tech tool—it’s a movement:

“You don’t need to be a cybersecurity professional to join. All it takes is awareness and the willingness to report. That one screenshot or suspicious message you submit could stop someone else from becoming a victim.”

Scam Vault PH is a joint initiative powered by Gogolook, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), and Scam Watch Pilipinas.
