Ever dreamed of owning a real Formula One (F1) car? McLaren is giving wealthy racing enthusiasts a rare opportunity to purchase five fully functional F1 machines linked to some of the sport’s biggest names, including Ayrton Senna, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Lando Norris, and Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.
The British racing team announced on Sunday, October 18, that it would sell five historic cars spanning 32 years of its Formula One history, with estimated prices ranging from £5 million to £10 million (approximately ₱390 million to ₱780 million) each.
According to report, the cars will be sold individually through luxury vehicle dealer Tom Hartley Jr., with McLaren preparing the machines for their future owners.
Unlike ordinary collectible vehicles, these are actual Grand Prix cars that competed on racetracks and remain capable of running.
Among the highlights are two 1991 McLaren MP4/6A cars powered by Honda V12 engines. Both were raced by Gerhard Berger and tested by three-time world champion Ayrton Senna during McLaren’s championship-winning season.
One of the cars finished second at the San Marino Grand Prix, while the other secured second place at the British Grand Prix.
Also included is a 2012 McLaren MP4/27A raced by Jenson Button and tested by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Two more recent machines complete the collection, including the 2021 McLaren MCL35M driven by Lando Norris to podium finishes in Imola, Monaco, and Monza.
The fifth car is the 2023 McLaren MCL37A-03, which Norris raced during the 2023 season and which was later tested by other drivers, including Oscar Piastri and Mick Schumacher.
The same car was driven by Brad Pitt during a private test at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, in June 2025, in connection with his starring role in F1: The Movie.
Pitt reportedly reached speeds of up to 317 kilometers per hour during the test. The 2023 machine is also described as the most modern Formula One car offered for sale to a private collector.
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown said the decision to sell the vehicles was intended to keep the team's racing heritage alive rather than leave the cars in storage.
"These cars were built to be driven and raced, and we want to see them being used and enjoyed. We believe that is the best way to keep our history alive and our heritage business active," Brown said.
Meanwhile, Hartley described the sale as an unusual opportunity for collectors to acquire authentic race cars directly from the team that developed and competed with them.
"These five cars will be offered individually and there is no time pressure whatsoever. Our priority, and McLaren’s, is to find the right homes for them," Hartley said.
McLaren has not announced official asking prices or a deadline for the sale.
The offering follows previous multimillion-dollar transactions involving historic F1 cars, including a McLaren driven by Hamilton to victory at the 2010 Turkish Grand Prix, which sold for £4.8 million in 2021.
